GB Tubulars Connection Drawings

Generalized drawings of the GB DWC Connections are presented in the full Power-Tight (or Final Field Make-up) Position. Please take note of which connections feature pin-to -pin as opposed to pin-to-shoulder contact. Those with pin-to-shoulder contact have the “E” designator in the connection name, signifying enhanced.

Enhanced connections have a heavy cross-section at the center of the coupling. This feature provides an internal reinforcing ring that significantly strengthens the coupling body. In addition to the facilitating torque shoulders in the connection, the heavy cross-section minimizes coupling expansion with makeup, improves leak resistance and virtually eliminates jump-out (jump-in).

In the drawings, the Hard Band (HB) feature is shown with a RED outline on a portion of the wear sleeve OD and on the leading edge (downhole coupling bearing face). It is important to note that hard banding on the leading edge is important to robust wear performance, since this surface takes the bulk of abuse during rotating and advancement operations.
