GB RISER Connections

Application

PDF Printer Friendly Version
  • Dual use connection designed for drilling riser and downhole applications. After drilling riser service, the string is retrieved from the well and shipped onshore where it undergoes UT and visual thread inspection. The string is then shipped back offshore where it is put into downhole service. The GB RISER has demonstrated excellent repeatability after make-up, riser service, and break-out under field operating conditions with minimal connection loss.

Features

  • Resistant to long-term, low-level fatigue loading as demonstrated by several series of full-scale, 4-point cyclic bending tests.
  • Twin cantilever design reinforces the coupling limiting expansion and distortion from make-up, reducing assembly pre-stresses, and minimizing thread galling.
  • Interchange-able with standard API Buttress Threads eliminates cross-overs and special accessories, such as float shoes and collars.
  • Uses standard API and MRP gauges and procedures for inspection.
  • Makes up to an internal torque shoulder and has API triangle stamp for secondary make-up verification on the rig.
  • 100% joint efficient under all load combinations. Will not jump out (or in) in high angle build sections common in directional drilling.
  • Maintains pressure integrity when special clearance.
